Miranda Lambert Joins Female All-Stars Live for U2 Classic at Country Lakeshake [Watch]
Miranda Lambert closed out the first day of the 2019 Country LakeShake Festival on Friday (June 21) by inviting some of the top female artists in country music to the stage for a group rendition of U2's " I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For."
Lambert brought Maren Morris, Lauren Alaina, Cassadee Pope, Ashley Monroe, Angaleena Presley and Lindsay Ell to the stage to close out her headlining set. Friday's LakeShake lineup was almost entirely female aside from Dee Jay Silver, who kicked off the event.
Lambert told the crowd, "I can't believe I get to stand up here with these badasses tonight. We're gonna make a toast to women singing women's songs... and a toast to y'all for listening!"
She's Back! Miranda Lambert Is Really Back!
"I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For" gave U2 a No. 1 hit when it was released as the second single from their classic album The Joshua Tree in 1987. The song has since become one of their most enduring classics. Lambert and company turn in a rendition that is faithful to the musical spirit of the original, but still gives each woman a chance to shine.
After their performance, Pope tweeted her praises for Lambert.
"I reminded myself in this moment to soak it up because of how beautiful it was. Just 7 women with 7 stories to tell. Thank you @LakeShakeFest & @boccountry for yesterday, and @mirandalambert for sharing the last song of your set with all of us," she writes.
Alaina shared a set of hilarious photos, joking about "the house that SPILT me," since after their bow, Pope accidentally spilled her drink on Alaina's back.
Lambert will take Morris on the road this fall on her Roadside Bars and Pink Guitars Tour 2019, featuring an entirely female lineup of rotating artists during the span of the tour. Other support acts include Pistol Annies, Elle King, Ashley McBryde, Caylee Hammack, and Tenille Townes. The trek kicks off Sept. 13 and runs through Nov. 23.
Lambert has also recently released a new song titled "Locomotive" that recaptures the spitfire spirit of some of her earlier work, but with a mature new lyrical perspective. It's the first song she's shared from a new album that she says is coming in the fall.
