Miranda Lambert Names Five Songs Fans Can Fight To At Her Shows [Watch]
Miranda Lambert's fine with fights breaking out at her shows — as long as fans choose their timing carefully.
The singer recently broke up a fight during a performance of "Tin Man," her award-winning heartbreak ballad. She shut the situation down quickly, even calling the police over to remove the rowdy fans from the crowd. But after the fact, Lambert clarified that it wasn't the fight itself that bothered her: It was the fact that it disrupted one of her most powerful sad songs.
"If you want to fight at my shows, I'm all about it. Give 'em hell," Lambert said in a video message she posted to social media. "I've got five songs for you."
She then went on to list the songs from her catalog that provide a more appropriate backdrop to a brawl: "Fastest Girl in Town," "Kerosene," "Gunpowder and Lead," "Little Red Wagon" and her new single, "Wranglers."
Lambert loves a rowdy country show, but even more than that, she loves strong storytelling and emotion — and that's why she won't tolerate fist fights during the heavy-hitter ballads.
"Don't do it during 'Tin Man.' That's not the time," she continued. "I know you can hear the s--t-talking because it's a ballad. But that's not the time. So pick your times. You've got five songs. Look at the set list and choose wisely."
Fans in the comments section mostly had messages of support to share, but some had their own suggestions for other fight-appropriate songs from Lambert's catalog, like "Only Prettier" "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" and "Mama's Broken Heart."
Lambert's currently on a new music kick: After dropping "Wranglers" in May, she followed the single up with another new song, "Dammit Randy," which includes a co-writing credit from her husband Brendan McLoughlin.
