Justin Moore

Justin Moore's success in country music is reminiscent of times gone by. The Arkansas native is one of the very few hat acts left among the younger country crop, with influences that encompass both classic country and rock. He released his debut single, 'Back That Thing Up,' in 2008, but it wasn't until 2009 that he scored his breakthrough with 'Small Town USA,' which gave him his first No. 1 hit. His self-titled debut album went Gold, as did his sophomore effort, 2011's 'Outlaws Like Me,' which placed additional hit singles including 'Bait a Hook,' 'Til My Last Day' and 'If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away,' another chart-topper. 2013 saw the release of Moore's third studio album, 'Off the Beaten Path,' which scored even more hits with 'Point at You' and 'Lettin' the Night Roll.' Moore is also a devoted family man, and with the birth of his third child in 2014, he announced his intention to scale back his touring activities and spend more time at home.

A third album can be a trap album for an artist like Justin Moore. To get this far means you've had some success and made a little money, especially if you write your own songs, as the 29-year-old does. With two kids and a wife at home, those weekends away lose their luster no matter how seductive the thrill of playing for thousands of fans who know every word to every song you've ever cut can be.

The 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards will air live on Sunday night (April 7) from Las Vegas. The annual awards show features a lineup that's a veritable Who's Who of contemporary country, but this year there's going to be one notable absence: Justin Moore. The singer skipped out on Vegas a day early to keep another, more important commitment.

Justin Moore and Easton Corbin may be big country stars with diehard fanbases, but that doesn't prevent them from being fanboys of reality TV badasses. Both singers tweeted photos of themselves with Dog the Bounty Hunter and his lovely yet equally rough and tumble wife Beth at pre-ACMS festivities. They were psyched.

No lead is safe on the ToC Showdown. Jon Pardi was ahead late into the night last night before Justin Moore fans attacked with heavy online and phone call voting at Taste of Country Nights radio. The result: 'Point at You' is the new Showdown champion. The singer will need support from his fans once again -- perhaps a little earlier -- to knock off 'X Factor' winner Tate Stevens.

We have a new Showdown champion! Jon Pardi's 'Up All Night' took down two-night champion Zac Brown Band yesterday and last night on Taste of Country Nights radio. The midtempo love song got an early jump on 'Jump Right In' and phone voters solidified the win. Today, the newcomer will face another country veteran, with another love song.
