Many of the same things Taylor Swift sings about on her new Lover album, she talked about seven years ago.

Swift talked to Taste of Country in the fall of 2012 about her final country album, Red, and what she wanted her fans to get out of her then-upcoming tour. "I really want it to be something that entertains people and has them leaving the arena or the stadium going ‘that was worth the money we spent for the ticket," she said. "It was worth it, you know."

That's one item she can probably check off her career bucket list. It's amazing that Swift was thinking of stadiums at age 22, but that's not the only area where she proved to be something of a fortune teller. Could this quote not come from her talking about several songs from Lover?:

"I think that it talks about that feeling, not that ‘Shame on you, you broke my heart. Shame on me you broke my heart," Swift said then of "I Knew You Were Trouble." "I knew. I saw you and I saw red flags. So it’s kind of an emotion I hadn’t dealt with before.”

On Lover, "I Forgot That You Existed" lives on the backend of that emotion.

This video shows how themes that carried her country songs still inspire the pop megastar today. There are a few nuanced changes. For example, as she's grown older Swift has begun to recognize sexism and racial inequality as it applies to her and others around her. She also draws different conclusions about bad romance.

"We came up with a way to say this is dangerous and I realize I might get hurt if I go forward with you, but I want to," Swift said of her song "Treacherous" so many years ago.

Or did she say that about "Cruel Summer"? Watch to find out and just to enjoy this delightful throwback with one of country music's kindest and most generous female artists.
