Thomas Rhett Swears a Camera Guy Told Him to ‘Suck It In’ at CMA Fest

Thomas Rhett was gently reminded that "dad bod" is a thing as he was encouraged to suck in his stomach before filming a segment for CMA Fest. The father of four recounted the moment in a video on social media and admits that he was already feeling self-conscious about his body earlier that day.

"Right before I was doing the interview with Ashley McBryde one of the camera guys looked at me and goes, 'suck it in,'" Rhett reveals as he mimes the action of sucking in his stomach. "I swear he did."

"Looking out for me," he adds.

The "Gone Country" singer tells the story to his wife and team in a car after performing his set at the country music festival. Prior to the show, Rhett had considered wearing a tank top on stage, but his wife Lauren's grossed out reaction to his outfit made him change his mind.

After the show he joked with her about her ribbing, giving her a hard time.

"How'd that tank top hit you in the crowd? Did you see my chest hair?"

"Did you do that?" she asks.

"No, I buttoned my shirt right before I went on stage 'cause I felt self-conscious 'cause y'all were making fun of me about the tank top," he explains. "I would have loved to have let that bad boy fly."

Who Is Thomas Rhett's Wife?

Thomas Rhett and Lauren have known each other for most of their lives. The two met in first grade, but it would take some time for their love to blossom. The pair were married in 2012.

In 2017 the couple adopted their first daughter, Willa Gray, from Uganda. During the adoption process they got pregnant with their second daughter Ada James, who was born just three month after Willa came home. A few years later they were a family of four. In 2020, they welcomed Lennon Love, and in 2021 Lilli Carolina was born.

After a whirlwind of caring for their brood, Rhett admits that they have since moved in to a phase of life in which the girls are more independent. This has allowed he and Lauren to enjoy each other again.

"My wife and I are just having fun again, dude," he told Taste of Country. "We're not in the diaper phase anymore, we're actually having date nights and hangin' with friends until after midnight."

"It sounds kinda lame, but it's a big shift for us," he adds.
