Trace Adkins' latest hit on the rise, 'Just Fishin',' is a special song to the singer as it talks about the bond between a father and his little girl. The tune was penned by Ed Hill, Monty Criswell and Casey Beathard, and had a much different theme going when the three began writing the song -- baseball!

"We actually started writing this song about a father and son playing catch, and their relationship," Hill tells Taste of Country of the original lyrics. "Then Monty said he always wanted to write a song called 'Fishin',' so we decided to change the title. Then three of us started talking about moments with our own daughters."

"I'm lost in her there holdin' that pink rod and reel / She's doin' almost everything but sittin' still / Talkin' 'bout her ballet shoes and training wheels / And her kittens / And she thinks we're just fishin' /
I say, 'Daddy loves you, baby' one more time / She says, 'I know ... I think I've got a bite.' / And all this laughin', cryin', smilin', dyin' here inside's / What I call, livin'," they wrote in the song's opening lyrics.

"This song meant a lot to us, because we all have daughters," notes Hill. "And you know what? Girls love to fish!"

"And she thinks we’re just fishin' on the riverside / Throwin' back what we could fry / Drownin' worms and killin' time / Nothin' too ambitious / She ain't even thinkin' 'bout / What's really goin' on right now / But I guarantee this memory's a big'in / And she thinks we’re just fishin'," they wrote in the chorus.

"Monty said he wished he could just have a song like this, once or twice a year," says Hill. "I told him, you know what, I'm just glad to have this one, because there is no song like this. I was just so thankful that we'd captured something so great."

"It's like there's only one 'Gone With the Wind,'" he continues. "It's like Garth Brooks doing 'The Dance.' That's one of my favorite songs of all time. It's only a one of a kind. You can't say we want another song like 'The Dance' [because] there is no other song like that. There's 'The Dance' -- enjoy that one! There is no other movie like 'Gone With The Wind' -- enjoy that one! That's how I feel about this song. Luckily we got a good spot, as far as it being the first single on Trace's new album."
