Alex Miller Salutes Late Grandfather in 'My Daddy's Dad' Video

Alex Miller salutes his late grandfather in the powerful new video for his new song, "My Daddy's Dad."

The former American Idol standout's grandfather, GB Miller, helped nurture his musical aspirations.

GB Miller died on July 3, 2022, and Miller is releasing his tribute on what would have been his birthday — June 19 — in a Taste of Country exclusive.

"One thing about my granddad that always stood out to me was his love for his father and my dad," Miller tells us.

"G always told me stories about his dad and the things that they did together, and with this video I wanted to use the story element, and show our relationship as well."

"The concept for this video came to me when I was reflecting back on my childhood and the things I used to do with G. He used to call me the 'why, why' boy because I always asked questions about him, his dad, and his life. In this video I just flipped that idea; now I’m the one answering the question, 'What was granddad like?' The answer is 'My Daddy’s Dad' truly is my granddad and our relationship in a song."

Miller co-wrote "My Daddy's Dad" with Jerry Salley, and he and producer and director Steve Kinney filmed the video for the song at the Miller farm and the Grand Theatre in Lancaster, Ky. Miller's young cousin, Jak Christopher, plays the little boy in the clip.

"My Daddy's Dad" is the first single from Miller's current EP of the same name, which dropped on April 12.

The EP is currently available for streaming and download across a wide variety of digital music providers.
