Cam Shares a Throwback Pic of Herself, Admits She ‘Was Terrified’ at the Time
We know Cam as that striking, curly-haired country singer who made a name for herself with her mega-hit "Burning House" back in 2015, but she wasn't always that girl. Recently, the California native shared a throwback photo of herself from 2009, when she was just considering a future in music.
“2009 me, next to a Denny’s wall in somewhere near Palo Alto, Calif.,” she writes alongside the vintage picture. "I was working at the Culture and Emotion Lab at Stanford by day and at a restaurant/bar called Nola’s at night. Somehow started writing music between it all and this was one of my first photo shoots. I was terrified. Memories! le sigh. now I have to go rewatch Charlie the Unicorn."
Who Is Cam's "Diane," Anyway?
While she may look a little different now, Cam's drive to succeed has never shown any sign of fading. Currently she is looking toward 2019, as she will perform alongside big names like Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan and Sam Hunt at the legendary Stagecoach Festival. Lauren Alaina and Aubrie Sellers are on the bill too, but Cam will be there first to tell you that there is much more work to be done when it comes to equality in country music.
"Understanding all this, now people are starting to talk about it, and I think you have to see it as this is a sense of a bigger understanding that we're all trying to come together as a group and understand that when some people are kept out and kept down that are talented, everybody is missing out," she explains in a recent interview with Taste of Country. "This is what we're all going to start understanding, and it's okay, because we're going to figure this out. The only way forward is for everybody to open their minds and their hearts to how we can take care of each other."
