Carrie Underwood to Headline ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’
As if she didn’t have enough on her schedule already, Carrie Underwood will spend her New Year’s Eve partying alongside Ryan Seacrest in Times Square, where she will be headlining the New Year's Rockin' Eve show just before the ball drops to ring in 2016.
Seacrest made the announcement via Twitter and his other social media channels on Oct. 28:
Originally hosted by the iconic Dick Clark, the New York City celebration is watched by an estimated 1 billion people worldwide who tune in each year to see the big-time performances and the infamous ball drop.
It’s a fitting way for Underwood to close out 2015 after a majorly eventful year, including the birth of her first child, Isaiah (who is expected to have a very cute Halloween costume this year) with husband Mike Fisher. She’s also recently released her new record Storyteller, which includes her hit “Smoke Break." To promote the album, Underwood not only performed on the Today show on drop day, but also appeared on Ellen on Oct. 27, which Ellen DeGeneres took as a prime opportunity to startle the singer out of her chair.
Underwood is hosting the 2015 CMA Awards with buddy and eight-year co-host Brad Paisley. The duo is known for their hilarious song parodies and topical jokes, so it's sure to be a good time! The show airs Nov. 4.
