Charlie Daniels’ 2018 Fan Club Party Put on Lockdown Due to Shooting in the Area
Fans who attended Charlie Daniels' 2018 fan club outside of Nashville on Wednesday (June 6) spent some anxious time after authorities put the location on lockdown following a nearby shooting.
Nashville's WKRN reports that a woman named Jessica Adams died after her husband shot her in the stomach following an argument over a planned birthday party for their sons.
The Wilson County Sheriff's Office tells WKRN Jessica Adams took her two children to a house in Mt. Juliet, outside of Nashville, and met with their father, Thomas Adams, to discuss the party. After the couple began arguing over the plans, Thomas Adams reportedly shot his wife in the stomach and ran off into the nearby woods.
Daniels' annual fan club party was taking place in Mt. Juliet, and it was underway on Wednesday when local police were scouring the area for the suspect. According to a tweet from Daniels on Wednesday, authorities came by and locked down the building where his fan club party was going on, and some fans apparently got caught outside and could not regain access to the party until the lockdown was over.
"We apologize to any of our fans who got out and couldn’t get back in," Daniel writes, adding, "The police caught the shooter."
Jessica Adams died from her wounds, and detectives accompanied by K-9 officers and a Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopter searched the surrounding area for more than six hours before finding Thomas Adams' body. Police believe he died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
