Charlie Daniels Concert Postponed Due to Illness
Charlie Daniels has postponed his concert that was scheduled for Thursday evening (March 15) due to an illness.
The 81-year-old singer was set to perform at American Music Theatre in Lancaster, Pa., tonight, but a message from the venue reveals the singer had to cancel his appearance and a new date will be announced soon.
"The Charlie Daniels Band concert, originally scheduled for tonight, has been postponed due to artist illness," the venue writes on Instagram. "Ticket holders are being asked to retain their tickets, and will be notified when a new show date is confirmed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."
Daniels re-tweeted the venue's message, but there's been no word from him as to the nature of the illness or if any additional tour dates might be postponed. The country legend and Country Music Hall of Famer is scheduled to perform next on March 16 in Lynchburg, Va.
Recently, Daniels performed in Nashville as part of Volunteer Jam XX. For four hours, some of Daniels' friends sang his most popular songs at Bridgestone Arena as the singer sat and watched alongside his longtime friend, Randy Travis.
Alabama, Chris Young, Alison Krauss, Jamey Johnson, Chris Janson, the Oak Ridge Boys, Blackberry Smoke and Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top were just some of many acts to take the stage and pay tribute to Daniels with cover songs made famous by the singer himself.
Additional performers included Bobby Bare, Justin Moore, Ricky Skaggs, Eddie Montgomery, Lee Brice, Sara Evans and Travis Tritt, all backed by an all-star band. Fittingly, Daniels took the stage last, and performed several of his hits including "The Devil Went Down to Georgia," before closing the evening with a spirited all-hands-on-stage jam on "One Way Out."
