Darius Rucker Added to American Red Cross Celebrity Cabinet

Darius Rucker has been added to the American Red Cross Celebrity Cabinet. What exactly does this appointment mean? Well, the 40-member cabinet is comprised of famous folks who promote Red Cross Services via their time, by helping neighbors in emergency situations, responding to disasters and, in general, lending a helping hand to those in need or less fortunate -- whether they are down the street, across the country or around the world. And Rucker is one of the people who does just that.

"Whether it is a call to action for blood drives, disaster relief or just community outreach, the American Red Cross does an extraordinary job at not only meeting the immediate needs of a community but also the preparation and planning for longterm support," Rucker says in an official press release about his appointment. "I am honored that they would include me in the cabinet as a member and contributor."

Other celebrity cabinet members from the country genre include Rascal Flatts, Sara Evans and Reba McEntire.

In other Rucker news, the singer will hit the road to tour in support of 'Charleston, SC 1966' this summer.
