Darius Rucker has scored his fifth No. 1 single as a country star this week, as 'This' tops both the Billboard and MediaBase country singles charts. While he should be getting used to having hit singles with his solo career, Rucker is still humbled by each time he accomplishes the feat.

"Oh goodness ... it’s still awesome," Rucker tells Taste of Country. "When we get to No. 1, it’s always a nice battle and it’s always fun to watch. When you get to there, you’re always happy. How could you not be happy that you just got another No. 1? They are so hard to come by. I’m always excited and happy about that. You try to be cool about it, but I’m pretty ecstatic right now!"

Rucker's previous No. 1 singles include 'Don't Think I Don't Think About It,' 'Alright' and 'It Won't Be Like This for Long,' from his debut album, as well as 'Come Back Song,' which can be found on his latest album, 'Charleston, S.C. 1966.'

"When we set out to record this album, we tried to choose songs that would mean something to the fans," says Rucker. "'This' was a song I never thought would be a single, but that just shows you the power of the fans because they were the ones requesting it, downloading it and playing it for their friends. It’s their support that has made my career in country music possible."

Look for Rucker to make several television appearances next week, including NBC's 'Today' on Monday, April 25, NBC's 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,' also airing Monday at 12:35AM ET, and 'The Wendy Williams Show' on Tuesday, April 26 (click here for local listings).
