Fans who tuned into the Grand Ole Opry last Friday (July 6) not only were able to hear Darius Rucker sing a couple of his hit songs, but also get a sneak peak of what's to come from him later this year. During Old Crow Medicine's set, the former Hootie and the Blowfish singer joined the band for a special rendition of 'Wagon Wheel.' Fans went crazy over Rucker's cover of the Bob Dylan hit, leaving the singer quite pleased, and he later revealed why.

"Secret out after @opry perf," Rucker tweeted, along with a clip of him singing the tune on stage. "I recorded a version of 'Wagon Wheel' for my new record & @ladyantebellum sings on track."

The new album -- the release date of which is still TBA -- is Rucker's third solo project on Capitol Records, following his highly successful projects 'Learn to Live' and 'Charleston, S.C. 1966.' The 'I Got Nothin'' singer anticipates releasing the first single from the forthcoming album project in the coming weeks. Stay tuned to Taste of Country for your first listen.
