Louisiana native Dylan Scott has a new single, "Crazy Over Me," that he wrote with someone close to him. The singer writes with his roommate, who he considers family. Scott chatted with Taste of Country Nights about the process of writing the song with someone so close.

Scott lives with two guys he considers family; one is a songwriter with a publishing deal, and the other is his tour manager and merchandise guy. The three live and work together. When Scott's publisher got word that he'd be living with a fellow songwriter, they thought they'd be getting a lot of work done.

“We started this song — so funny story is — our publisher, we have the same publisher, so we moved in with each other, and that was cool," he says. "Our publisher was like, ‘Great, y’all can write songs every night that I’m in town and it’ll be a ton of songs.’"

It turns out, that's not exactly how it works. So far they've only written Scott's latest single together, and it has been a lengthy process.

"We wrote one song the whole year, and it was this one," he explains. "We started, we wrote the first verse and chorus in like one night. We were like, ‘Oh, this is great. This’ll be awesome.’ We were pumped about it, and it literally took about eight months to finish the song.”

Even though it was quite a process, it's a song Scott can be proud of -- and hopefully we'll hear more songwriting collaborations from the two in the future.
