Gabby Barrett is showing fans a song called "Young" that she wrote about getting married when she was 19 years old. The lyrics acknowledge the pushback she and husband Cade Foehner faced when they said they wanted to tie the knot.
Barrett never wound up releasing "Young," but she played an acoustic version in a social media post over the weekend.

Barrett's lyrics talk about how people in her life suggested she slow down and enjoy singlehood in her early 20s.
"But I didn't mean to need you like the air that I'm breathin' / You didn't plan on me now," she sings.
"This wasn't the 'smart choice.' But 8 years later.." Barrett added in the caption of her post.
When Did Gabby Barrett Get Married?
Barrett and Cade Foehner met in 2018 as contestants on American Idol, and they announced their engagement the following year.
They married on Oct. 5, 2019, and have since welcomed three children. Foehner also performs as part of Barrett's touring band.
Barrett has responded to some criticism from fans who think she's "ruining her career" by prioritizing her marriage and her faith over superstardom.
The singer says she's turned down some career opportunities because of her family's priorities, such as offers for a duet role on a love song with an artist who's not her husband.
"What does that look like on the stage?" Barrett explained during a 2023 appearance on the Unexpected With Hannah Love podcast.

"If I'm singing with another man, is that gonna make my husband uncomfortable? Probably," she continued. "And I respect and love him so much that I am not gonna jeopardize my marriage to do a duet with somebody."
Here Are the Lyrics We Know So Far to Gabby Barrett's "Young"
Young / Everyone says we're too young / Supposed to be single and dancin' with strangers / Waitin' on tables / Just startin' out, havin' fun
They say we / Should just take our time, slow it down / But I didn't mean to need you like the air that I'm breathin', baby / You didn't plan on me now...
And we don't care they call us crazy / Hey, maybe we are / Yeah we are / 'Cause crazy's how we love / It must be written in the stars / So what if we are too young
