Garth Brooks, Trisha Yearwood Earn Their Stars on Music City Walk of Fame
Power couple Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood hit a very special milestone this week as they officially earned their stars on the Music City Walk of Fame. The country icons now have their own shining stars in Walk of Fame Park just outside downtown Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. They join fellow Nashville musicians Loretta Lynn Jack White as inductees this year.
"It’s pretty sweet in the fact that its right there, it’s right next to Miss Yearwood," Brooks tells CountryMusicIsLove. "So, to kind of put it in cement and then to know that right to the left of us is Loretta Lynn, the queen of country music. That’s a pretty good neighborhood to be in. I’m the luckiest guy on the planet, in between Trisha and Loretta."
Yearwood was just as thrilled to have her name permanently etched in the polished stone plaque.
“It’s awesome. You know, awards are great. You take them home and put them in a special place, but something that’s actually in cement, that is in the city forever is surreal and amazing," she explains. "As a young girl, all I wanted to do was to move here and be a singer and to be a part of the community. So today really kind of brings it all home for me. It just feels like ‘Wow, we actually did all that.’ It’s really special."
A free public ceremony was held Sept. 10, 2015 to honor the country music couple, who are the proud owners of stars No. 65 and 64.
The Music City Walk of Fame honors musicians of all genres who have made significant contributions to the music scene and have a connection to Nashville. Inductees are nominated through the Visit Music City website.
The couple has been on Brooks’ impressive World Tour, which has raked in millions of dollars since it kicked off in the fall of 2014, making it the top-earning country tour of 2015 thus far according to Pollstar's mid-year report. The tour is his first in 13 years, and many cities have hosted Brooks for back-to-back dates.
