The Showdown: George Strait vs. Lee Ann Womack
We're headed for a face-off between two of the most respected artists in country music in the new Showdown. George Strait is widely regarded as the King of Country, and he's squaring off against Lee Ann Womack, who is one of the most gifted song interpreters in country music.
Strait has just won his third Showdown in a row, giving Aaron Watson a wallop with his new single, "Cold Beer Conversation." The lead single from Strait's new album of the same name takes a more mature approach to country, centering around a conversation between two old friends about the changes life brings as we grow older. So far Strait's fans have been turning out to vote massively for the song.
Womack's new single is "Chances Are," and true to her habit, it's a beautiful, haunting track delivered flawlessly by the singer as if she was reciting pages from her own emotional diary. The latest offering from her The Way I'm Livin' album re-affirms all of the reasons why Womack is so widely respected — but will she be able to get past Strait's voting juggernaut?
Listen to clips of both Strait and Womack’s songs and vote for your favorite here. You can vote once every hour until this Showdown ends on Monday at 8AM ET, so come back and vote often to be sure your artist wins. The winner of this matchup will face a new challenger on Monday.

Showdown Rules: The song with the most votes wins, and the winner goes on to face a new challenger in the next Showdown. Vote as much as once per hour online. If a song wins five Showdowns in a row, it will be retired into the Taste of Country Showdown Hall of Fame to allow for new songs to compete. Some songs will be considered for a second Showdown if voter turnout is healthy in a losing effort.
