Every year, most of us have that one person on our list whom we know is going to be a struggle. You know the one—the one who has everything, even the things you thought you'd beat them to the chase buying.

This scenario is more than familiar to sweethearts Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, who keep "ruining" each others' gifts. As Stefani explained on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Thursday (Dec. 6), the holidays are quite the struggle.

"“It’s so hard! He has everything,” Stefani related. “I feel like we’re both sitting there going, ‘Promise me you’re not going to get me anything. Let’s just not get gifts this time.’“

Of course, neither one of them follow this sensible path. Stefani shared a story in which she tried to buy Shelton a leaf blower, but ended up blowing the deal. She texted the link to the item to a group chat that she didn't realize Shelton was on. And not only did he become privvy to her plans—to add insult to injury, he'd already bought himself the same thing a week earlier.

This works the opposite way, as well. Shelton apparently tried to buy Stefani a jacket she'd deemed as "too expensive," only to find out later she'd went ahead and ordered it to try on at home and decide if it was worth the money. "When it came, he was like, ‘I got you that! That’s your Christmas present!'"

Despite the challenges involved in buying each other presents, the couple are strong as ever by all accounts. Stefani recently even had to fight off joking accusations from talk show host Ellen DeGeneres that the pair are engaged. "No we're not. No we're not. No we're not," Stefani asserted, adding, "He's still my boyfriend."
