Hardy’s ‘Give Heaven Some Hell’ Raises a Glass to Late Loved Ones [Listen]
Hardy's "Give Heaven Some Hell" serves as a stirring tribute from the musician to anyone who's lost a loved one.
"Give Heaven Some Hell" is the latest single culled from the singer-songwriter's upcoming debut album, A Rock, which came out on Sept. 4 via Big Loud Records. The song follows both "Boots" and "One Beer" in giving listeners a taste of the first full-length effort from the veteran songmaker who's now striking out as an artist in his own right.
As opposed to the respectively romantic and nostalgic qualities of those previous two ditties, "Give Heaven Some Hell" tackles the severe circumstances surrounding life and death while still retaining the signature witty charm of the musician whose full name is Michael Wilson Hardy. Ashley Gorley, Hunter Phelps and Benjamin Johnson helped him write the song.
"'Give Heaven Some Hell' is one of my favorite songs I've ever written," Hardy says of the new single. "I just hope this helps anyone that's ever suffered a loss of a loved one. Excited for this song to exist in the world."
An accompanying music video puts Hardy with some of his real-life buddies, as the singer explains on YouTube. True to the song's subject matter, however, the clip focuses on evoking emotions that arise after a loved one passes to the other side.
Did You Know?: Hardy cut his teeth in country music penning songs for Florida Georgia Line, Morgan Wallen, Blake Shelton and more before releasing his own tracks. Hardy's first mixtape, Hixtape Vol. 1, arrived in 2019.

Hardy, "Give Heaven Some Hell" Lyrics:
Can't believe that you got me in a suit and tie / I had to take a pull so I wouldn't cry / You got a line out the church door sayin' goodbye / Yeah, I believe 'em when they say you're in a better place / You had a wild side but you had amazing grace / I know you're way off up in them clouds / But if you can still hear me right now.
Chorus:
I hope you hit those gold streets on two wheels / I hope your mansion in the sky's got a ten-acre field / With some mud and some hubs you can lock in / Make some thunder, make 'em wonder how you got in / Hide your beer, hide your clear from the man upstairs / Crank it loud, hold it down 'til I get there / And when I do I hope you got some new stories to tell / 'Til then, give heaven some hell.
I bet you're lookin' for a crew like we had / Bunch of noise-makin' boys that like to live fast / Burnin' rubber in a parkin' lot / Man, I don't know if the other side's ready or not.
Repeat Chorus
I was there when you raised your hand / Heads bowed, singing just as I am / Walkin' that aisle, prayin' that prayer / Man, it ain't right but if you gotta be there.
Repeat Chorus
