‘Girl Crush’ Named the Best Country Song at 2016 Grammys
A Little Big Town song won back-to-back Grammys at the 2016 Grammy Awards on Monday. "Girl Crush" pocketed Best Country Song for the songwriters just moments after the group took the Best Country/Duo Performance award.
Hillary Lindsey, Lori McKenna and Liz Rose penned "Girl Crush," the winner in a similar category at the 2016 CMA Awards in November. The trio took the stage together and thanked Little Big Town, each other and family.
After a long walk to the pre-show stage, the three jubilant women were nearly giggling as they took their Grammy. Each had a turn to thank those close to them, with Lindsey making sure to mention her newborn baby girl Bennett, who was at home with her husband. They called Bennett their good luck charm, although they hardly seem to need luck. "Girl Crush" is nominated in the all-genre Song of the Year category, as well. Little Big Town's Pain Killer album is also nominated in the Best Country Album category.
After three awards, the 2016 Grammys are starting to look like the 2015 CMA Awards, with Stapleton and Little Big Town scoring early wins. Both lead country music nominees, although Sam Hunt is also nominated in multiple categories. The 2016 Grammy broadcast begins at 8PM ET on CBS. Taste of Country will be covering the show, red carpet and backstage media room in entirety. Click the button below to see all 2016 Grammy winners thus far.
