Mason Ramsey Is Ready for a ‘White Christmas’ [Listen]
We may be barely into November, but you all know what that means — it's fair game for a full-fledged onslaught of Christmas everything. Tween-age sensation Mason Ramsey is on board with the early train, having posted his holiday offering on Thursday (Nov. 1) — a lilting version of the classic "White Christmas."
Ramsey, who will turn 12 on Nov. 16, handles the somewhat grown-up tune with aplomb, singing lines such as "just like the ones I used to know" as assuredly as any senior citizen with decades of Dec. 25ths on the books. "Yodel Boy" (or, "Walmart Boy," depending on whom you ask) doesn't yodel on this particular track, but his voice does skip octaves up and down confidently as he puts his personal spin on the 1942 composition.
Overall, it's a brightly upbeat and ironically modern freshen-up to anyone's Christmas music collection, young or old.
Ramsey, of course, is no stranger to tackling vintage classics. Ramsey's rapid rise to fame started when a video of him yodeling Hank Williams tunes in the aisles of his local Walmart earlier this year went viral. In just a few short months, he appeared everywhere from Coachella to Good Morning America and even released his own aptly titled EP, Famous.
