One 2014 Oscar winner should have mentioned a famous country singer in his thank you speech. Because without her … OK, he probably would have been noticed by someone else, but it’s still pretty cool that this celebrity started his career in a country music video.

Matthew McConaughey was cast as the boy in Trisha Yearwood’s ‘Walkaway Joe’ video in 1992. He plays the love interest -- the Walkaway Joe -- a wild and carefree guy with nothing but trouble on his mind. Pretty believable role for McConaughey, isn’t it?

Recently, Yearwood told People that she’s actually never met the actor. He was cast in Austin, Texas and filmed his scenes separately.

“Honestly, I'm so happy to see him recognized for his work in ‘Dallas Buyers Club,’” she says. "And if he ever wants to be in another Trisha Yearwood video, I won't make him audition."
