The Voice Season 8 runner-up Meghan Linsey has announced she will be releasing a new pop/soul EP on July 31.

Linsey began her career as one-half of the country duo Steel Magnolia before earning a slot on the vocal competition and joining Blake Shelton's team. The artist debuted her first solo single “Change My Mind” in May, performing the song during the show’s finale, and sold more than 50,000 downloads in its first week. The EP, titled Believer, will feature six brand-new original songs written or co-written by Linsey and produced by Tyler Cain, who has also worked with country artists Ashley Monroe and James Otto.

"These six songs are a great representation of me, as a human and an artist. They're bold and genuine and have depth. I really laid it all out there,” Linsey says of the tunes.

The songs, she says, are very personal and talk about real issues and insecurities everyone has at some point in life.

"I wanted to write about what I know and what I've been through. I haven't always been confident. I'm still not always confident. I struggle with feeling balanced and good enough, all the time. I've been through some hard stuff and I've come out on the other side and I'm ok. I'm stronger than ever. I think people can relate to that," she adds. "I want to be an inspiration to others."

Linsey recently performed at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. as part of its 4th of July celebration, which also featured Hunter Hayes, Alabama and Barry Manilow. Believer is available for a reduced price exclusively on Ghost Tunes starting July 27 before hitting online retailers everywhere.
