Miranda Lambert to Headline Cause for the Paws Charity Concert
It's no secret that Miranda Lambert is an absolute animal lover. The country starlet, who has dogs of her own and occasionally picks up irresistible strays on the side of the road, is also the founder of MuttNation. The foundation raises money to help build better animal shelters, increase pet adoption, fund spay and neuter programs and essentially do all kinds of things to better the lives of pets across the nation, as well as the lives of their owners.
Each year for the past four years, MuttNation has hosted a Cause for the Paws charity concert to help raise money for the work they do year-round. Lambert herself will head back home to Texas to headline the 5th annual event, set to take place Friday, June 22, at Ford Park in Beaumont. She will be joined onstage by fellow Texans Wade Bowen and the Josh Abbott Band.
"We are so excited about the next chapter in our lives at MuttNation Foundation in aiding and assisting animals in need," Lambert's manager Marion Kraft said in a public statement. “After four years in East Texas we found ourselves in need of hosting the benefit concert in a bigger venue. Beaumont, Texas reached out with open arms to help us with our mission. Aside from music, this is Miranda's biggest passion in life and those of you who can attend the show are sure to have a time you won't forget! Also, remember that every penny of profit from the benefit goes into the fund that helps us accomplish our mission, to end animal suffering and homelessness.”
To date, MuttNation has donated more than $700,000 to animals in need, according to a press release. MuttNation Director Bev Lambert said the foundation has plans to do even more outreach in 2012. "One exciting partnership that we have entered into in this past year is with the Red Star Emergency Relief Service to assist in disaster relief for animals displaced or abandoned as well as the rebuilding of shelters harmed or destroyed," she said. "The most exciting thing is that we are partnering with them to bring home our military service dogs from the recent war relief. The service animals are currently being retrained to provide service to the wounded warriors and as therapy pets for their families.”
Tickets for Cause for the Paws go on sale the morning of Friday, April 27 and start at $26.75 each.
