Miranda Lambert Accepts Female Vocalist at CMAs: ‘I Needed a Bright Spot’
Miranda Lambert hasn't had the best year in terms of her personal life, but hopefully her Female Vocalist of the Year Award makes it a little better.
"I really needed a bright spot this year," Lambert admitted upon accepting her award, referencing her split from husband Blake Shelton of four years this past July.
This is the first awards show the hit country superstar has attended since the divorce. Shelton was there as well, alone, though he has been confirmed to be dating pop-rocker Gwen Stefani.
Lambert looked emotional and humbled accepting her trophy, taking the stage with new pink hair that gives her even more flare and rocking her bejeweled Chris Stapleton T-shirt. Stapleton swept the 2015 CMA Awards with several wins.
"Justin Timberlake and Chris Stapleton, just thank you so much," Lambert expressed. "I’m going to go home and practice."
This is Lambert's sixth consecutive win in this category, but that didn't seem to make the award any less special. She was also nominated for Entertainer of the Year, as well as Music Video of the Year and Musical Event of the Year.
During this year's awards ceremony, Lambert performed a track from her latest album Platinum, "Bathroom Sink." The star has been tapped to join Kenny Chesney at his stadium dates on his upcoming Spread the Love Tour.
