Country is alive and well in the big city. Actors from ABC’s hit show Nashville showed off their singing chops as they took the stage at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York on May 5.

Chris Carmack, who plays Will Lexington on the show, kicked off the night with his song “What If I Was Willing.” Sam Palladio (Gunnar Scott) performed the song “Can’t Get It Right” from the show, while Jonathan Jackson — who plays the handsome, rough-around-the-edges Avery Barkley — sang a new upbeat tune, not heard on the show yet, titled "Kinda Dig the Feeling."

Next up was the angelic Clare Bowen (Scarlett O’Connor), who took the stage with her fiancé and fellow musician Brandon Young. The chemistry and tenderness of the two could be felt throughout the entire venue as they performed the song “Longer."

Then it was time for Charles Esten, who plays the dreamy Deacon Claybourne on the series. He was all smiles as he asked, "Did you see last night’s episode?" When the crowd yelled “Yes!” he went on to say he posted bail just to be at the NYC show. The laughs really came through as a fan in the front row handed him a “Get out of jail free” card. Esten performed the tender wedding tune that his character wrote for his love interest Rayna James (Connie Britton), titled “From Here on Out."

After the crowd got a taste of each musician, they had a block of their own music while teaming up with each other on some tracks. Some highlights included Jackson, Palladio and Bowen performing “Borrow My Heart,” as well as Bowen and Palladio’s duet to “Fade Into You.” Bowen also graced the stage with Esten to crank out “That’s Alright Mama” and “Hand to Hold.”

ABC’s Nashville Live in concert provides a unique experience for fans of the show to see their favorite characters up close and personal but also to get to know the people behind the characters and the music that drives them.
