The charismatic male half of Steel Magnolia is taking some time off to deal with alcohol and substance abuse issues that he's been wrestling with. In a recent post on the band's official website, Joshua Scott Jones announced he'd recently entered a rehabilitation facility.

To all of our fans and to those whom it may concern,

God has been on my heart to announce and make public that I have entered a rehabilitation and treatment facility to address issues related to alcohol and substance abuse. Hundreds of thousands of people in the world struggle with these battles daily, therefore I am sincerely grateful for all thoughts and prayers at this very poignant juncture in my life and career. I would also like to thank my family, friends, record label and management team for being so supportive and having an active hand in my recovery process.

Last Saturday, Steel Magnolia's Meghan Linsey (Jones' fiance) announced her partner would be taking some time off and that she'd be doing shows by herself as best she could. Linsey did not explain why Jones was unable to perform, but Thursday's letter brings more light to the unfortunate situation. Fans have been generous with their support for Jones at the band's Facebook page.
