Thomas Rhett’s Wife Launches Jewelry Line to Benefit Children in Uganda
Thomas Rhett's wife Lauren Akins couldn't have chosen a beneficial avenue closer to her heart—both literally and figuratively. The couple's oldest daughter Willa Gray was adopted from Uganda, and Akins has created a jewelry line that benefits children in that very country.
"Y’all!! I teamed up with @ladybirdjewelry in Nashville and we designed some really beautiful necklaces that are going to benefit the children in Uganda," she shared on Instagram April 19.
The necklaces (which can be purchased here) feature a cross, heart and numeral "1" charms ("I know it is impossible to care for every child's need in the world, but we can each love one," Akins explains), and they are available in 14k yellow gold, rose gold, white gold or sterling silver; with or without diamonds. The price range starts at $99 for a plain silver pendant.
Proceeds will benefit the Ugandan children, and there is also a donate button option for those who would like to give without purchasing a necklace.
One of Akins' friends, Jason Aldean's wife Brittany, posted her own necklace on her Instagram account, stating "Let’s help these angels, one necklace at a time!"
The couple brought home their adopted daughter in May of 2017 following a long process of trying to adopt her from her native country of Uganda. Her sister Ada James was born in August. The burgeoning superstar launched his 2018 Life Changes Tour on April 5 in Tulsa, Okla. and continues on the road through October.
