If you haven’t heard for Jackson Michelson, you will soon. This Oregon native is a strong contender for one of country's future rookies of the year, having earned his way into several summer festivals, including the 2015 Taste of Country Music Festival, June 12-14.

The singer/songwriter grew up listening to rock, reggae and soul in addition to country music, and his style reflects it. His most recent single, “The Good Life,” has been steadily gaining traction since its release in 2014, earning endorsements from heavy-hitters like Lee Brice and Cole Swindell and now playing on satellite radio. The 26-year-old is even set to open for Blake Shelton this summer in Cheyenne, Wyoming

Though a move to Nashville may seem like a requirement for country hopefuls, Michelson is proud of his home state and has no plans to move any time soon, he tells KOIN. Check out Michelson in Hunter Mountain, New York at the Taste of Country Music Festival by buying tickets here.
