’90s Hitmakers Join LoCash, Cole Swindell + More for Daryle Singletary Tribute
A group of contemporary hitmakers joined '90s country singers including John Michael Montgomery and Diamond Rio to pay tribute to the late Daryle Singletary on Tuesday night (March 13).
Chris Lane, Michael Ray, Tim Rushlow and more also took the stage to sing "Too Much Fun" at the end of a '90s night concert that featured several unexpected pairings. Video shows the crowd loving the quasi all-call. Singletary died unexpectedly at the age of 46 on Feb. 12.
Per the Tennessean, today's hitmakers brought '90s hitmakers to the stage with them to sing the vintage hits. Adam Sanders sang with Tracy Lawrence. Lane performed with Montgomery. Tyler Farr paired up with Blackhawk. Ray and Aaron Tippin shared a stage, while LoCash teamed with Joe Diffie for "John Deere Green" and Rushlow, of Little Texas, for "What Might Have Been."
“Garth is the reason we’re here,” LoCash's Preston Brust said. “Is it too late to call him?”
Singletary was widely respected as one of the premiere '90s vocalists with hits including "I Let Her Lie" and "Amen Kind of Love." "Too Much Fun" peaked at No. 4 in 1996, and while it wasn't his biggest hit on country radio, it's the song that's best stood the test of time. Later he'd release some original music, but also a collection of cover songs including John Denver's "Take Me Home Country Roads."
Tuesday night's sold-out show took place at Marathon Music Works in Nashville.
RIP Daryle Singletary
