You would think that with all of his success in the country music world -- he did recently hit No. 1 with 'Let Me Down Easy,' after all -- Billy Currington wouldn't be the victim of mistaken identity ... but he has been. Currington reveals that the guy he most gets mistaken for is none other than Dierks Bentley! "It more happened when we were first getting started. We were confused a lot," Currington tells Taste of Country with a laugh.

"It took a while, but people got better about honing in on the features of our face and [seeing] maybe that there are some differences -- hair color, all kinds of different things that I see different -- so I think they are finally catching on to that," he says.

As of late, the country singer adds, "I don’t really get called him anymore. I don’t think he gets called me as much anymore, either. I haven’t lately signed any Dierks autographs, but it was fun back then when I did."

A few years ago, a Grand Ole Opry star approached Currington in an airport, and this was someone who he'd worked with countless times, so they knew each other. He tells The Boot, "We were getting on the same plane, and she was like, 'Oh my God, Dierks! What's goin' on?' She gives me this big hug, and I'm thinking, 'Should I tell her?' I never told her."

Currington is currently opening for Kenny Chesney on his Goin' Costal Tour, along with Uncle Kracker. Before the run is all over after October 27 at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass., they will have traveled to nearly 60 venues.
