Billy Ray Cyrus’ ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ Makes a Comeback in Rap Video [NSFW]
Billy Ray Cyrus' smash hit 'Achy Breaky Heart' is back -- sorta. The country classic has been given a hip-hop makeover, courtesy of rapper Buck 22, and it comes with a video you have to see to believe.
(Warning: Clip contains some nudity!)
'Achy Breaky 2' opens with a bizarre cameo from Larry King (who hinted about the song in January), and it gets even crazier from there. Cyrus is right alongside Buck 22 throughout the clip, partying on a spaceship with barely dressed, twerking aliens. And if the obvious twerking reference was not enough, Cyrus even even throws in a quick shout-out to daughter Miley's smash hit, 'Wrecking Ball.'
'Achy Breaky Heart' was first released in 1992 and has been stuck in our heads ever since. It's been translated into over 100 languages, and this is not the first time a remake has been attempted.
When Buck 22 wanted to record his take on it, he says that Cyrus was skeptical at first.
"I asked if he would mind if I could take a crack at remaking 'Achy Breaky Heart'" says the rapper, son of famed R&B/pop singer Dionne Warwick, in an interview with Rolling Stone. "He looked at me for a moment, and said 'lots of people have tried already, but go for it.'"
In the end, Cyrus gave his stamp of approval on 'Achy Breaky 2,' going as far as to head into the studio and record a brand new version of the hook.
The country singer has focused mainly on acting and his family over the past few years, but the release of 'Achy Breaky 2' is sure to bring attention back to his country career ... and maybe even a burgeoning hip-hop career, as well.
