Blake Shelton learned about his win at the 2011 American Music Awards like the rest of America did -- in the morning. The singer admitted on his Twitter page that he didn't stay up late enough to hear his name announced as the Favorite Country Male Artist, but doing so would have proved fruitless anyway as the presentation wasn't televised.

"Holy----balls!!! I just found out I won an American Music Award last night!," Shelton tweeted on Monday morning. "I only stayed awake long enough to watch Adam and Christina.. Ha!" "Adam and Christina" would be his 'The Voice' cohorts Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera.

The 'Honey Bee' singer expanded on his enthusiasm later. "Anyway thank y'all for voting your a----s off for me!!! I promise next time y'all are up for an AMA I'm gonna vote everyday for you!!! Swear!!" he tweeted.

"I kinda feel bad winning though.. I'm not American... I'm country b---h!!!" he added.

Lady Antebellum took home the award for Best Country Duo or Group during Sunday night's broadcast. Taylor Swift was the big winner, earning Favorite Country Female, Favorite Country Album and the overall Artist of the Year.
