Clare Dunn Dishes on Bad Record Deals and Singing With Luke Bryan
Clare Dunn is a Colorado native who left everything behind to pursue her dreams in Nashville. While the first few years were challenging, she's now released her single on MCA Records. She stopped by the Taste of Country Nights studio to chat about that and singing with Luke Bryan.
Dunn has been a Nashvillian for seven years, since her move from Colorado. Her first three years were spent working her way through college, and the next three getting herself out of a bad deal.
"I got myself into a bad deal, so I kinda just had to work my way through that. It was just a bad contract. It happens to a lot of people, I was just one of them," she says optimistically.
Since making her way out of her bad deal, she started making music on her own before "signing the ink" on her record deal. Now, in 2015 the singer is finally where she wants to be. She has her debut single, "Move On," out on MCA Records.
"It's just been a whirlwind this past year," Dunn tells us before saying how "grateful" she is for everything.
This isn't the first time country fans have heard her music, though. Dunn was also one of the voices on Bryan's smash hit, "Country Girl (Shake It for Me)." She's now taking her own sound on the road. She estimates she'll play 200 shows this year.
“Two things in life that I live for is to create music and play music. I’m getting to do that full steam ahead and I’m just so grateful.”
