Cole Swindell Tells a Lonesome Story in ‘Somebody’s Been Drinkin”
Cole Swindell starts lonely, but ends his new song "Somebody's Been Drinkin'" by doing something he's sure to regret. The power ballad tells the story of a good old-fashioned American booty call.
Find the song on Swindell's upcoming third studio album when its released. "Somebody's Been Drinkin'" is thematically similar to Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now," with guy and girl both letting the booze seduce them into an old romance.
Much like he does on his current radio single "Break Up in the End," the 34-year-old sings it like it still stings. Heavy rock guitar riffs and pulsing kick drums crescendo with the action. She keeps getting closer and closer as the song keeps getting louder and louder. With the very last line of each chorus, Swindell lets you in on his secret:
"Somebody’s been drinking and got to thinking ’bout us / It’s just the cherry bombs talking when you’re hitting me up / I got a fire in the backyard, half of bottle of goose / And a spot on my shoulder, so baby come on over / Somebody else has been drinking too, yeah," he sings at the chorus of "Somebody's Been Drinkin'."
This summer look for Swindell at select fairs and festivals around the country. His next album will follow two gold certified albums, including You Should Be Here from 2016. "Breakup in the End" is Swindell's ninth radio single.
