In just a few weeks, Eli Young Band's drummer, Chris Thompson, will officially be off the market. Thompson, who popped the question to his girlfriend, Candace, a year ago, is gearing up to wed his beautiful bride-to-be at the end of the month.

"We have kind of a running joke in the band," Thompson tells Taste of Country with a grin. "It seems like any time these days that any of us can get time off [from the road] is if one of us is getting married and having a honeymoon."

Luckily for the band there is one more wedding on the way, which means a little more time off in the coming months.

"James, our guitar player, just got engaged a couple of weeks ago," says Thompson. "He will be getting married in February, so we’re running out! We’ve got [my wedding], and then we’ve got one more left! I don’t know what we’re going to do next to have any time at home."

For Thompson and his fiance, they have a low-key wedding planned and a fun-filled agenda for their honeymoon. "We have some fun stuff planned for the honeymoon," Thompson says. "It will be good."

Following the wedding and honeymoon, Thompson and his other bandmates will hit the road hard once again, as they head out with Dierks Bentley and Jerrod Niemann on the Country and Cold Cans Tour.

"It’s nice to be on tours like that," says Thompson of the new trek. "We’ll be doing that for a month and a half or two months, but it’s nice to be on tours like that because time is so much more structured. You can actually plan when you can go home and when you’re going to be out. It’s not as chaotic as our normal tour schedule."

The Eli Young Band have been busier than ever in recent months as they just released their latest album, 'Life at Best,' which has already produced their Top 15 single, 'Crazy Girl.' Stay tuned to Taste of Country for our full-length interview with Thompson about the new music, life on the road and what's next for the band.
