Congratulations are in order this week for the Eli Young Band, as they celebrate their very first No. 1 hit, 'Crazy Girl,' which tops both the Billboard and Mediabase/Country Aircheck singles chart. The song, penned by Lee Brice and Liz Rose, has been holding strong at No. 2 on the charts for the past couple of weeks, waiting for its much deserved shot at the top.

The news of their No. 1 single came just days after they performed the song on the 'Late Show With David Letterman.' To help them celebrate in style, Dierks Bentley (who the Eli Young Band are currently opening for on the Country and Cold Cans Tour) surprised the band onstage with a special cake to commemorate the special milestone when they performed in Springfield, Ill.

"We’ve been really, extremely lucky to have a lot of success, but this song has changed a lot for us," says EYB's lead singer, Mike Eli. "Especially now that it’s getting so much radio play. More people out there are hearing about us and hearing our music, and it’s really changing things for us."

'Crazy Girl' was recently certified platinum by the RIAA for sales of over 1,000,000 downloads and has sold over 30,000 copies a week, every week, for months on end. The video for the song has become a YouTube favorite, tracking over 6,500,000 views to date.

Look for the Eli Young Band to perform the tune on the 2011 American Country Awards in Las Vegas on Dec. 5. The awards will air live on FOX beginning at 8PM ET (PT/tape delayed). That night, the Eli Young Band is up for Artist of the Year: Breakthrough Artist. Fans can vote for the Eli Young Band online here. Voting polls will close on Nov. 11.
