Eli Young Band’s Jon Jones and Wife Expecting First Baby
Soon, the Eli Young Band's tour bus will need an extra bunk -- be it a tiny one. Bassist Jon Jones announced that his wife Sarah is expecting the couple's first child, a baby boy, due on Dec. 23. That makes two babies in 2012 for the ACM Award-winning group, as singer Mike Eli welcomed his first baby in July.
“It’s funny that in the band, Mike got married first, and then me,” Jones tells People, who broke the news on Friday. “Then Mike and Kacey got pregnant ... and Sarah and I are right behind them.”
The band was traveling when Sarah found out that she was pregnant, and she couldn't keep the secret until he returned home. His college sweetheart texted him pictures of the six different pregnancy tests she took to be sure. "When she called I could hear the excitement in her voice,” Jones reveals.
Eli Young Band will wrap up their touring commitments for 2012 in October, and then begin working on the follow-up album to 'Life at Best.' That will give the Jones family -- who will celebrate three years of marriage in 2013 -- plenty of time to prepare the nursery and choose a baby name.
“It took Sarah and me a month to pick out our couches for the living room, so we’re going back and forth a lot,” the EYB bassist says. “Our goal is to have a name chosen by the time he is born.”
