The arrival of Eric Church's baby boy is quickly approaching! Like any new parent, Church and his wife, Catherine, want nothing but the best for their son as he goes through life, even if that means pursuing a career in the sometimes brutal and heartbreaking music industry. If his son does chose to go down the same career path as Dad, Church says he will encourage him if that is truly where his heart is.

"I think it depends on what the motivation is and where the passion is," Church tells Taste of Country. "I don’t think that you ever get into this because you want to make money or be famous because that's never going to happen if that's your goal. I think you have to do it for the sake of making music. I mean, I'd be doing this if nobody had ever heard my name. I'd still be making music, and I'd still be playing songs on Friday and Saturday nights. I'd probably have two jobs, but I'd still be playing for tips somewhere. I think that if that's your passion and that's what you'd be doing even if they didn't pay you, then that is something you should explore. I did, and it worked out for me. So if he has that same passion, then that's not something I'd ever throw water on."

"It's hard," he continues, referencing the music business. "The one thing I can at least shed some light on is that it's a hard road. It's a hard life at times to get where you want to be, but as long as you're making it about the music and as long as you have a passion for that, then it makes it worthwhile."

Church is currently in the midst of opening shows for Toby Keith on his Locked and Loaded Tour. Next year, Church will embark on his own headlining trek. Details of the new tour will be revealed in the coming weeks. Click here for a complete list of dates where Church will be performing for the remainder of the year.
