Florida Georgia Line singer Tyler Hubbard has once again turned to social media to argue the case for gun law reform in the wake of a pair of devastating mass shootings that took place in Texas and Ohio.

The superstar shared a video in which gun enthusiasts and legal gun owners all share their support for the kinds of expanded background checks that many gun policy experts argue would have a significant impact on the number of shootings in the U.S. every day. Current background checks include broad loopholes for guns purchased at gun shows and over the internet, and proposed legislation would seek to close those loopholes.

Hubbard makes it clear that he, too, supports gun rights, but he believes the time has come to have the difficult conversations that need to take place around the laws governing who should be allowed access to a gun.

"I still believe this is an important conversation that we can’t be afraid to have. Especially all of us who love our guns and want to protect our rights as Americans," he writes. "Let’s get uncomfortable, address this issue, and really make this country a safe place to live. If we want to put an end to gun violence it has to start with us. We can make a change."

26 people died, and 26 more were injured when a gunman opened fire at a Walmart in El Paso on Aug. 3, Time reports. Just hours later in the early morning of Aug. 4, nine people died and 17 others were injured in a shooting at a bar in Dayton, according to ABC News. The deadly shootings took place within 13 hours, touching off another round of debates about gun control and America's mass shooting problem.

Hubbard previously voiced public support for TOMS' End Gun Violence Together campaign in November of 2018. TOMS shoe company founder Blake Mycoskie launched the campaign after the mass shooting at the Borderline Bar & Grill in California, in which 13 people died.
