George Jones Released From Hospital
Legendary singer George Jones was finally released from the hospital after being admitted six days ago, on March 29, for an upper respiratory infection. His publicist, Kirt Webster, said in a public statement that the 80-year-old Jones "wants to thank all his friends and fans for their prayers and well wishes over the past few days.”
Jones is reported to be spending some time at home resting and recuperating before his next show, which will take place on April 20 in Mahnomen, Minn. Though rumors were circulating that the 'He Stopped Loving Her Today' singer was actually battling pneumonia, Webster put those rumors to bed, denying the claim.
The legend was admitted to a Nashville-area hospital last Thursday and was just planning on remaining under the care of doctors overnight. That one-night stay grew into nearly a week, though, so we're glad to hear that he's finally been released. The singer was also admitted to the hospital in January of 2011 to be monitored after a routine checkup.
Despite medical battles of different kinds, Jones is still planning on hitting the road again for the remainder of his tour, which will keep him quite busy right up until the end of 2012. We're so glad to see that Jones has recovered, and now we just want to know where we can get a bit of that same kind of unstoppable energy!
