Jake Owen is getting fans amped for his new record American Love with a collaboration any country fan will drool over: "If He Ain’t Gonna Love You" with Chris Stapleton. Owen made the song available to hear via his YouTube channel, but fans can also get an instant download of the tune when they pre-order the record.

The upbeat, funky jam is exactly what the title suggests — a man seizing an opportunity to woo an amazing woman that another man stupidly left behind. “If he ain’t gonna love you, I will — like you’ve never been loved before,” Owen declares over the soul beat, as Stapleton wails the backing vocals in his signature gravely tone.

Stapleton wrote the song with Shane McAnally and Luke Laird, and Owen says after years of fawning over Stapleton’s demos, he had to jump on the opportunity to record one of the artist’s tunes, even if it was a little intimidating.

“I remember, years back, calling and asking for Chris Stapleton [demo compilations] just so I could listen to his music. He didn’t have a [solo] album out then, and I would listen to his songs all the time,” Owen tells Rolling Stone Country. “For 'If He Ain’t Gonna Love You,' he sang on the demo, too — and it’s so good, it’s hard to beat that. But he made me sound better.”

American Love is due out July 29, but Owen has also released another track from the album called “Good Company,” which is now available. The star has experienced a lot of personal life changes in the last year or so — most notably his divorce from wife Lacey — which he says is reflected in the 11 new tunes.

"Music is healing, whether it’s sad songs or happy songs — just depending on where you are in life and what you need to hear at that point,” Owen says. “This album has a lot of different aspects of my life thread throughout it. I think people will kinda get a good idea of where I am in life, where I’m going and where I’ve been."
