It's bad news for Jake Owen fans who were looking forward to seeing him this week at Joe's Bar in Chicago, Ill. Owen was forced to cancel two shows set for Jan. 18 and 19 after breaking his collarbone while snowboarding in Colorado last week.

Monday morning (Jan. 16), Owen went to the doctor to get the break looked at and to learn best course of treatment. "In the Dr. waiting on my sentence," Owen tweeted. "You know it's not good when he comes in and says 'That break is worse than the football teams.' Damn."

When news broke of his accident, which appropriately happened on Friday the 13th, Owen promised his followers on Twitter that he would not be canceling his shows if he had any say on the matter. "If I have to sit on a stool I’ll be there," he wrote. "I can’t let y’all down."

After being evaluated by his doctor, Owen's attitude changed. "I guess I spoke too soon," he wrote minutes after the verdict. "So sorry to my friends and fans. I'm going in for surgery tomorrow morning. My shows will be postponed."

No word yet on when Owen's performances at Joe's Bar will be rescheduled, but hopefully it will happen in the next few months, as his summer is pretty packed. In June, Owen will hit the road with Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw on their Brothers of the Sun Tour. The tour is set to kick off on June 2 in Tampa, Fla.
