Judging by the country music fans hanging out at the CMA Music Festival in shorts and tank tops last weekend, summertime is definitely upon us. And what's better than listening to new summer tunes during the warm weather months? To give you the perfect soundtrack for the summer, country star Jake Owen will release a 'Summer Jam' EP sometime during the season.

The singer let fans preview the title track at during his fan club party at last week's CMA Music Festival. "My life in the summer and all the time, pretty much, is about being on the water, being on the lake, and I wanted to make a summer-y beat," he told fans at the party, according to The Boot. "I wanted to put out on iTunes three or four tunes that all my friends out on the lake can put on their boat and crank it up."

The rough cut of 'Summer Jam' featured Florida Georgia Line, an up-and-coming duo that Owen just happens to be friends with.

"I've been trying to help my friends that are coming up, and the Florida Georgia Line guys, so I wanted to do this song with them," Jake explained. "We were messing around with the whole 'Barefoot Blue Jean Night' thing and all, I love the vibe of that tune, so I did this song with them, called 'Summer Jam."

We're anxiously awaiting the 'The One That Got Away' hitmaker's summer sounds, but in the mean time, you can catch Owen on the Brothers of the Sun Tour with Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw.
