"Best Shot" hitmaker Jimmie Allen is well on his way to becoming a country music star, but the tireless Delaware native is not going to limit himself.

Allen tells Taste of Country Nights more on-screen work is in his future. First, he's hopeful for more hosting jobs, like what he's done twice on the Today Show with Kathie Lee and Hoda. That opportunity came about by chance, he says.

“I like to meet everybody, from the security guard to the person at the door to the producers, camera guy, crew,” he says. “Me and one of the producers just started talking (and the producer said) ‘What else do you want to do?’ I said I’d love to come back and co-host.”

The same eyes open approach recently led to a bigger job as well. The singer and 2019 Taste of Country RISER couldn't say much, but shared he's landed a movie role: "I'm singing the title track of the movie and then while in the studio, I was approached with the offer to have a pretty big role in the movie."

Jimmie Allen Is "Unwell" and We're Better for It:

Some theater experience in high school and college will come in handy, but mostly Allen is an example of creating your own luck.

"You never really know who's watching and who’s going to be working where in a few months or a few years," he says. "I feel like you should always be good to people because it's the right thing to do, but you should also be good to people because you never know when that person might get promoted and they have a job that has something you need."

Allen's latest single, "Make Me Want To," is currently making its way up the charts. This summer he will head out on tour this summer with Chris Young and Rascal Flatts.
