Jimmie Allen Strips It Down for Acoustic ‘Make Me Want To’ Performance [Watch]
Hours before taking the stage at Joe's Bar on Jan. 23, rising star Jimmie Allen made a stop at Chicago morning show Windy City Live to perform his song "Make Me Want To."
With just a guitar in his hand, Allen was able to let his vocals take center stage during the simple, yet stunning performance. But before he started to play, Allen was asked about diversity in country music.
"You had Charley Pride and you have Mickey Guyton, you have Kane Brown, Darius Rucker ... here is so many people out there doing it and just aren’t getting the mainstream attention," he points out. "But man, there is diversity out there, but the diversity hasn't been getting the diversity it's getting now. I'm excited to see it and honored to be a part of it."
Jimmie Allen Is "Unwell" and We're Better for It:
Allen is back on the road with Kane Brown on Feb. 15 on the Live Forever Tour, and he's still riding high on the success of his debut single "Best Shot," which made history when it went to No. 1 in November 2018.
Not bad for a guy who once lived in his car.
"I moved to Nashville from Delaware in '07 and lived in my car for like four months," Allen recounts. "I lived in a trailer with no electric."
Glad to see that those days are now behind him.
