Keith Urban’s ‘Coming Home’ on ‘CMA Fest’ Special Is Just What Fans Want
CMA Fest, the Music Event of Summer, which aired on Aug. 8 on ABC, showcased a variety of standout performances from this year's annual four-day CMA Festival—bringing a taste of the excitement to those fans who weren't able to make it out to Nashville back in June.
One artist who definitely rocked the stage was Keith Urban—whose performance of "Coming Home" from his latest album, Graffiti U, managed to neatly convey all of the energy of his live show to the telecast. Watch above to see!
The song contains a piece of country music history with the inclusion of a riff from Merle Haggard's classic "Mama Tried." Urban recorded the song as a duet with pop star Julia Michaels, but performed the song alone for the TV special.
Thomas Rhett and Kelsea Ballerini returned for their second year hosting the three-hour CMA Fest television special—with both hosts also taking their respective turns showing off their musical chops as well. Other performances highlighted on the special included those from Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Dierks Bentley, and more.
The 2018 CMA Festival was held in Nashville from June 7 through June 10. The event has been held annually for more than four decades, showcasing live music from both A-list and emerging country talent over the years for fans to enjoy and discover.
