Kelly Clarkson Brings Hoda Kotb’s Ode to Her Daughter to Musical Life
NBC’s Today show co-host Hoda Kotb is currently riding high on the release of her new children’s book I’ve Loved You Since Forever, which was written in tribute to her baby daughter Haley Joy.
However wonderful her literary efforts were in capturing her feelings regarding her 1-year-old child, Kotb still had an idea brewing. "Wouldn’t that be cool if someone could sing the book?” she wondered. And, as it turned out, she had the perfect voice in mind to bring the book to musical life.
That voice would belong to Kelly Clarkson, who, as it turned out, was more than ready to rise to the challenge. The song, which premiered on the Today show Mar. 8, shows off how adept Clarkson (herself a mom to two children, and a stepmom to two more) is at adding the right personal touch to the already moving narrative Kotb penned.
Kotb's battle with breast cancer a decade ago left her unable to biologically have a child. She adopted her daughter Haley, born Feb. 14, 2017, and became a mom at the age of 52.
All of Today parent NBCUniversal’s profits from each download and stream of “I’ve Loved You Since Forever” will be donated to Helpusadopt.org (a national 501(c)(3) financial grant program that helps couples and individuals with the cost of their adoptions by awarding grants up to $15,000.
