Kelsea Ballerini Makes Wish Come True for Girl With Heart Condition
Kelsea Ballerini made 10-year-old Mia's wish came true over the weekend when she invited her on stage to perform "Dibs" together.
Early Sunday (Aug. 14), Ballerini was introduced to Make-a-Wish Kid Mia, who is battling a congenital heart condition. Mia wished to meet Ballerini, who is her favorite singer, and to perform "Dibs" with her, so Ballerini asked if she'd like to join her on stage in Virginia Beach later that evening.
At her concert later that night, Ballerini told the crowd that her new friend would be assisting on singing the No. 1 hit. A performer in her own right, Mia worked the audience in her pink cowboy boots and sang along word for word.
While Mia was a huge fan of Ballerini, it turns out the country singer is just as inspired by her. Ballerini posted a photo of the two performing together with a heartfelt caption.
"Made a new friend tonight. This is Mia. She is a 10 year old fighter and ball of sunshine, and her @makeawishamerica was to sing Dibs with me. She's a superstar and I'm humbled I got to make her wish come true," Ballerini writes.
Ballerini recently went gold with her latest single, "Peter Pan." The singer was walking off stage at the Grand Ole Opry on Aug. 10 when she received a plaque from her label, Black River Entertainment, commemorating more than 500,000 sales and streams of the song in the U.S. "Peter Pan" has amassed 17.5 million streams on Spotify worldwide.
Written by the singer, Jesse Lee and Forest Glen Whitehead, "Peter Pan" is Ballerini's third single from her debut album The First Time, following the No. 1 hits "Love Me Like You Mean It" and "Dibs."
